Our corporate sustainability philosophy is to make life more beautiful for you as our salon partner and stylist, and your clients. We put this into practice by contributing to a sustainable society in many different ways.
While we can already build on our strong foundation of existing sustainability activities and our ethical business operations, we are now intensifying our efforts to create a sustainable future. And because this matters so much to us, we are making it step-by-step an integral part of our salon partnership concept. It's a philosophy we hope to nurture and share with all of you.
As a result, we will be reducing the environmental footprint of our products and services at the salon level in the years ahead. And we're counting on your help! SUSTAINABLE SOURCING
Since 2017, all paper we use for communication³ and material-related packaging components comes from certified sustainable sources.
More than 50% of the palm oil in our products is already sustainably sourced. Our target is 100%, and we won't stop until we get there.

WATER REDUCTION
In 2016 we decreased our waste water by 12%⁴'⁵. Its quality is close to that of drinking water. This is an ongoing process, and we plan to cut it by a further 10% in 2020⁶.

ANIMAL TESTING
We comply in full with the legal requirements worldwide. As early as the late 1980s we put a stop to all animal testing for product qualification, well before the relevant EU legislation in 2004.
FORMULATIONS
In 2012, we introduced Nectaya, a permanent hair color with up to 91% ingredients of natural origin⁷ and in 2020 KMS Moist Repair Hydrating Oil Spray with 99% ingredients of natural origin. Innovations like this are stepping stones in our long-term sustainability plan. There will be many more to come.

RECYLING
Most of our packagings are already recyclable today⁸. Tomorrow's target is to make them all recyclable.

CO2 REDUCTION
Our main production facilities have been powered by 100% sustainable, climate-neutral electric energy since 2014⁹'¹⁰. Our declared goal for 2020 is to reduce our CO2 output⁵'⁹ by 10%.

ENERGY SAVINGS
We have already achieved 31% energy savings at our main manufacturing site⁹'¹¹, a figure expected to rise in 2020 to 38%⁹'¹¹.

Our innovative Topchic can cap design contains 38% less plastic, helping us to save more than 11 metric tons per year.¹²
